Do health insurance plans cover doula services and birth classes?
Doulananda gives you all the information you need to submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance company. In other parts of the country there is about an 80% success rate in reimbursement! We are just starting to test the waters in Jacksonville so we cannot guarantee that rate, but it is hopeful. We will give you all that you need to submit the best claim for optimum reimbursement potential.
HSA or FSA?
Many doulas in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas have found that Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Spending Accounts are most likely to cover doula services and even childbirth education classes.
We ask that you try to submit to your traditional plans first and use the FSA and HSA as a back up plan. It's time to send a message to the insurance companies that doula services are an important addition to insurance coverage and that having a doula extends an additional savings to the insurance company!
For each of these options we will provide you an invoice with all the proper codes. Our doulas also have the correct credentials and NPI numbers for the best possible outcomes.

Increased breastfeeding rates can help protect mothers from:
- postpartum hemorrhage
- osteoporosis
- breast cancer
- ovarian cancer
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
"Compare all of these potential savings to the cost to insurers of covering a doula's fees, which usually range from $200-600 per family. Doulas are a
cost-effective preventative health measure, making a significant difference to the longer term health of women and their families, and ultimately, your bottom line! (of the insurance companies)."
